Physics graduate Roberta, after discovering the Los Alamos Rift at the Trinity test site, dedicated herself to Rift energy research. Deployment of Axis monsters, particularly the terrifying Totenkorps, at the end of 1944 led her to volunteer for deployment to the European Theater to conduct research on the military applications of Rift technology. Despite extensive opposition from the US Army, her request was ultimately granted.

Her practical approach, resilience to the psychological horrors of Rift warfare, and readiness to engage in combat set her apart from other scientific advisors assigned to the front. Demonstrating unwavering independence, Roberta often operated independently to avoid being hindered from continuing her research. Nevertheless, she gradually earned the respect of the US soldiers entrusted with her safety on the battlefield by showing exceptional combat survival skills.

Roberta is considered the United States' greatest hope in assessing the Dresden Rift for either its secure containment or neutralization. In 1947, she returned to the front line, assigned to the 109th Airborne Division en route to Dresden. As a valuable asset, she received a prototype armor specially designed for use with a Firefly jetpack. Of course, she was already beginning to implement her own modifications...
