Defense of American skies
The F-16 is one of the United States Air Force's most important weapons. To ensure the aircraft meets changing mission demands and is equipped with the latest weapons, the multinational MSIP program was introduced. Block 25, featuring advanced avionics, cockpit displays, AN/APG-68(V) radar, and a larger vertical stabilizer base for ECM equipment, entered service in 1986. The next MSIP stage introduced two turbofan engines: Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 and General Electric F110-GE-100. GE-engine aircraft were designated Block 30, and PW-engined aircraft Block 32. These blocks formed a base for more advanced F-16 upgrades and still serve in many U.S. Air National Guard fighter units.
