Nachtalben are the result of exposing human testers to Rift energies that grotesquely distort them while retaining all cognitive faculties. Disturbingly, the testers likely acted voluntarily, considering their continued military discipline. They are unnaturally fast, have sharp reflexes, and unlike other Axis Rift soldiers, they carry weapons and fight more like conventional infantry, although they show limited ability to temporarily change shape. Accordingly, Nachtalben specialize in infiltration, ambushes, breaking enemy lines under cover of darkness, and moving through difficult terrain with unnatural ease.
